Hi, I’m Meri.

I am a trauma informed yoga teacher and Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist (PCES). I create accessible and affirming yoga for the post-pregnancy body. My goal for students post-pregnancy is not about “getting their body back,” but getting back into their bodies.

My journey

with yoga

is far from unique.

Amid chronic health concerns, after traumatic births and recoveries, my yoga practice has been the bridge that brought me back into myself. It has been the way I have rediscovered myself; the way I have built my capacity for managing life-changing difficulties.

My need for a movement practice that aligned with my postpartum reality (rather than fighting or devaluing it) set me on a path to becoming a yoga teacher and PCES. And now, my goal is to create the same space for others’, so that they may find their way back into their bodies—be it after pregnancy or something else.

  • Nope. EVERYONE has a pelvic floor!

So much of yoga focuses on breathing and the pelvic floor is actually a HUGE part of breath mechanics. The pelvic floor is also important to the core and spine, including posture, SI joint, shoulder pain, jaw issues, and more.

  • As a member of the queer community, it is immensely important to me to be as inclusive as possible. I welcome all orientations and identities into my space. I aim to share my knowledge and expertise in a way that honors each human as well as my community.

The vast majority of my trainings have centered the cis experience. While I am committed to growing my knowledge, I am aware that this creates blindspots. My goal is to continue listening, learning, and evolving my practice and language so that I may honor the experience and humanity of all.

  • Both my pregnancies, births, and recoveries were highly traumatic. And non-pregnancy related trauma can also deeply affect the pelvic floor.

A huge part of my yoga journey has been about feeling safe enough in my body to stay present. In order to support the wide range of experiences that affect us all, I believe that learning as much as I can about trauma is an integral part of my teaching.

  • Hurray. Head to my contact page to reach out. Also be sure to check out the one-on-one page for more info on the whole process. Can't wait to meet you.
